NYC vs Little Boys

They said it couldn’t be done. My itinerary too aggressive. Not enough time. Such a big and busy city for such very active boys.

One of my goals has been to expose my boys to as many global cities as possible so when a PA day at school created a long weekend, I jumped on the opportunity. Boys, meet New York City!

And along with all the sensory stimulation of times square itself, we saw:

IMG_3433 We rode the Staten Island Ferry and rather than admire the New York skyline, my boys were more interested in the cargo ships crossing our path and heading out into the Atlantic.

IMG_3687 IMG_3696 And a trip to NYC can’t be complete without playing at FAO Schwarz.

Every meal was from a different ethnicity.  We walked – a lot. Through central park, to get to the subway and at our destinations. Both boys were perplexed as to why we didn’t use a car and after the first night when they saw traffic at a stand still and the never ending symphony of honking horns, they understood our pedestrian advantage. We braved the crowds at Macy’s to look at the Christmas Windows, and we talked, a lot. Amongst ourselves and with the locals. I don’t know if it was because of the holiday cheer or if they felt sorry for me  alone, with two young boys, but New York, I must say I’ve never seen you friendlier, and for that, we thank you. I appreciate the kindness and the recommendations – there’s no way I would know those delicious restaurants without you. You truly are magical during the holiday season.
